I have lived in East Dulwich/Peckham Rye borders now for over 18 months, I really liked Lordship Lane and East Dulwich for about a year but over the past six months its just become boring and bland. I just wanted to know if others have felt this, Camberwell seems to be more edgy and arty these days.
Nothing wrong with East Dulwich. It's what you put in to get out of it. (err... make of that what you will). Camberwell has always been a bit more edgy and the arty bit comes from the students at Camberwell Art College. If you prefer it there you could always move.

So what's actually changed about ED in the last 18 months?

Or is it you've just got bored now you know the place?

Personally I think what matters is who you hang out with, not where you hang out. I had some great times living in Swindon.... and if you can enjoy yourself there, you can probably enjoy yourself anywhere!!

Ive only been in ED for a little while and I absolutely love it and I can feel it in my bones that in 18 months I will absolutely love it!

As for Camberwell - dude you take your life in to your own hands just dont point all the crazy peeps in the direction of ED when you move there ;-)

move to camberwell dude

I can see where matt is coming from, ED is rather boring and bland - but obviously many of the forumites will take an opinion of an area personally.

Sigh.

It's pleasant here though, but I will probably have a change within the next 12 months and rent my house out, which is off 'trendy' (note the saracasm) Northcross Rd.

You want edgy?

You could always try Deptford. Moss Side. Or some of the lovely Glasgow housing estates.

I lived in 'edgy' for a number of years, but I do prefer having a night's sleep to being woken by yet another all-night blues club in the house next door, with machete-wielding macho idiots occupying the pavement space outside. There are only so many 999 calls to fire and ambulance one should be expected to make in a lifetime.

LL would definitely benefit from some kind of cultural hotspot, an art centre or something of its ilk. Some where that you could take a leisurely stroll to that was showing some poncey euro-arthouse-flimflammery-cinematic experience. I'm all for it. ;-)

Worth an application for Lottery funding?

If someone has been hear years and years and made the OP's comment then, maybe, maybe not

But to say you moved here 18 months ago and now your are bored - says more about you than it does about the area. That's not meant to sound like a dig btw - just suspect you may be young and in the mood for somethings else. ED itself hasn't changed much in the last 18 months (apart from superficialities such as Foxton's etc etc - but as that replaced a council offices I doubt you are missing out too much on the excitement front there)

    • I'm paying £31 pcm for full fibre 300, whatever that is. I'm not sure it's a particularly good deal now, but I did a comparison at the time I went onto it, and it was then. I don't have a landline any more, and my mobile is with iD, who piggyback off 3. I don't usually have any problems,  except once a few years back when the whole 3  network (?) went  down for quite a long time.
    • I have Plusnet too.   I recently (August) had some problems with WiFi connection on different days but and the turning off and turning on didn’t work.  The WiFi didn’t work for quite a few hours - overnight in one case but eventually rectified itself.   Would be interested to know how much other people pay for Plusnet. I also have a landline with them as the mobile signal is bad inside house.  That is with EE and I want to change from them to another provider.
    • That's terrible 🤬 Was it the same company both times?
    • Ooh I must try there.. not much for vegan partner, so I will go with a fishy friend 🐟
