  1. The Ice bucket thing in general
  2. From the first link - "Whatever type of bag is used, the key to reducing the impacts is to reuse it as many times as possible and where reuse for shopping is not practicable, other reuse, e.g. to replace bin liners, is beneficial. " Really? A study was needed to be done to make this assessment?
  3. What happens with the clever bags one buys to use when shopping, in place of these dreadful plastic bags, when they break and are no longer of use (except in some cases - depending on the quality of the stitch - used as a scratching mat for the cat)? Where does one recycle them? Which bin does it go in?

My apologies I thought it was something more community/general public related. Thanks for clarifying. :-)

  6. Where do the 54 year old go? It frustrates me that once you reach a certain age you're expected to stop living life or suddenly change how you live. Why? I appreciate in this instance ideas are being sought in general but surely it should come down to what you enjoy doing

  10. Na not as xciting as when a truck got stuck under ed bridge a couple of years back.

  12. AND soooo incredibly exciting!
  13. I dont think u could say its and edf specific thing malumbu... happens everywhere. Only yesterday an innocent office comment "can i have some blu tack for my knob"... well need i say more? Louisa - Thought that mile stone had past some time ago ;-) *hides*
  14. Where has it been inferred something wasn't "fun" "positive" or "exciting"? My own comments were simply suggesting that it would have been a good community gesture. I'm well aware about business/marketing/PR campaigns and I certainly wasn't complaining or indeed fussing. I simply don't like marketing where it looks like you're getting a fab deal - as advertised, for example, in se22 encouraging you to sign up in a manner that looks like it is something particularly exclusive, not mentioning fees until you go to that particular part of the website (it's a bog standard membership nothing special) - and you're not really. I'm allowed to express my views aren't I?
  15. would've been a nice supportive incentive of the picturehouse towards the community if say the first 100 to sign up didn't have to pay for the privilege or something like that... seems that although the "goal" is enticing local support, locals are paying for the venture. I have nothing against the picturehouse at all I just think this particular scheme is a bit cheeky. If they were a charity this kind of thing is quite normal of course. And of course they're not a charity.
  16. Did the person in question address you by name on the message sue "this is a message for *Sue*" or a generic one "this is *Samantha* calling in regards to..." ? Could just be one of those computer selected number thingys based on area... *shrugs*

  19. I've seen similar activities on our street in the past. Police are aware but it's difficult to catch them apparently
