  2. If I may, a great recipe using ingredients such as an 808 clap, dry snare, 909 Clap snare, some white noise, some bass... simply brilliant
  3. Typical questions were: Name the three disciplines of horse eventing? Which Bond film was the first to get a 15 certificate? A skeleton riding a horse means what on Tarot cards? What is Martin Offiah's nickname? We were the East Dulwich Three-um (there was meant to be four of us) and seeing as the winning team had 40% more people I think we did ok. Can't do next week but will definitely be up for the following week. Generally it's a decent place, it's a pub that has good beers, a non smoking section and friendly staff, I think it could do with a bit of atmosphere but that'll hopefully come in time. I believe they're having a beer festival sometime soon, if anyone knows more details let us know.
  4. Select "I'd rather walk if it makes my journey quicker" at the bottom of the Journey Planner search page, doing that tells me to walk to the Police station (from the middle of Barry Road) to get the 185 to Victoria. But I agree, personal experience is better especially warnings about avoiding that damn Walworth road.
  5. Leaving at 07:56am the The TFL Journey Planner website reckons it takes 55 minutes to go from East Dulwich Station to Paddington: Train to Tulse Hill (6 mins) -> Train to Farringdon (24 mins) -> Tube to Paddington (17 mins) Tulse Hill's in Zone 3 mind you

    Off topic

Hi Do you mean making it easier for people to say, "let's discuss this in the lounge" and start a new thread in the lounge area? So perhaps giving people a new button that says "start a new discussion in the lounge" on every post which would then take them directly to a new topic in the lounge area with the title (originally xxxx post). Otherwise giving people the option to split a thread would be dangerous, best left in the hands of The Administrator. Could you show me a link to a wiki that does what you say so I'm clear about what you mean? One of the problems is that people don't actually realise they're going off topic, they're just having a conversation. Lots of people do say things like "best get this back on topic" but there are some who converse directly with others about things irrelevant to the thread which is annoying for the majority of users and the Administrator steps in to control these. It's a judgement call that cannot be left to the users as a whole and I think The Administrator's about to have a bit of a crackdown. thanks
  7. I'd say take your mum to upstairs at the EDT (if it's open that night). Quiet, spacious, not smokey and a decent lamb shank.
  8. I'm with nutty on this one, a 15-20 minute scooter ride to Victoria makes going to work fun
  9. (techie talk warning) I'll second Mockney on that, if they have a website already try and use MySQL as the database as I find it's brilliant for websites (this forum uses it). Transfer the data over from Access into MySQL if possible and use just the latter as a database, although if the data has to be in Access then she could set up an ODBC connection between the two databases. Not particularly sexy but it'll work. As to how to connect using PHP and MySQL you can use mysql_connect() function to say something like: have a read of something like this http://www.freewebmasterhelp.com/tutorials/phpmysql Feel free to get them to send me a Personal Message if they need more help
  10. I decided against a spell checker because if people can't spell correctly or can't be bothered or haven't the time to check their writings or want to write slang etc etc then that adds a bit more of their charming personality to the site. If everyone spell checked their post the site would be a bit too clinical.
  11. ok, we've got an area so it's game on. I've highlighted what's needed in the original post so if you can assist that's fantastic and don't forget to drop by the Crystal Palace Tavern on Friday 13th April to have a drink and give contributions for the gazebo to Mockney. Just ask behind the bar who the forum people are. The organisers of the fair will be needing a hand on the day to, they'll be posting details on here again soon so if you want to get involved in a community event on a you're more than welcome, in fact, you're actively encouraged.
  12. I believe White Stuff have taken on all three units but will be only using two so it'll be interesting what the third on is...
  13. Yep, I shall be elsewhere this Friday so please give your donations to Mockney which will go towards the little forum tent at the festival fair. All donations warmly accepted, even if you can't out for the evening please feel free to pop by and drop your money off with the charming Mockney thanks
  14. we, the Lordship Lane Sharks, desperately need a couple of 5-a-side footballers to help us out tonight as a couple of our guys have had to drop out. We have a game at 8 o'clock in Catford tonight, lift can be provided from East Dulwich. If you, or if you know someone who, can help please let me know as soon as possible thanks Mark
  15. Interesting but this forum isn't a blog, is slightly moderated, there's not a "anything goes" policy and anonymous comments aren't allowed. I agree that people should take responsibility for their words and having looked at the draft I think this site adheres to most of what's written.
  16. Are you talking about The Green restaurant or another Greens?
  17. are you Karter because you drive racing Karts i.e. a kart-er or Karter as in (K)Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine? Or neither?
  18. sorry to interrupt, I had to get the Administrator to split this thread as the 'Forum at the fair' one should have been in the main ED issues section. Karter thanks for your offer, I may take you up on that but I am looking at other options. thanks again
  19. Don't know much about Henslowe Road myself but I see it's very close to Peckham Rye which is very a great park to be close too. I'd suggest having a wander round the streets one day and seeing what you which you like, perhaps knock on a couple of doors and ask people what they think of the area, I did when I was looking to buy and it helped me decide.

Not sure, probably nothing, but if we have a gazebo at the fair then perhaps he could officially open it, you know, make a speech then cut the tape
  21. yes, please stay (especially as I notice that the nice Mr Administrator has closed the pool thread), debates and discussions would be worse off if there wasn't people like you taking part.
  22. Posh Geek, is that like Bill Gates in a Rolls Royce?
  23. Me and mrs me are enjoying London on a bank holiday too. Oxo Tower for sunset yesterday and Richmond Park for a picnic today, might pop up to Dawson's Height for sunset later today. Lovely.
  24. we don't like him anyway, he makes pregnant women cry.
  25. I'm going to head to a shanter in Clerkenwell shortly but will be up for a shant in ED later if anyone's around
