  1. > Let Osbourne Stewart have their moment. Is it their Ratner moment? Is there such a thing as a self-induced run on an estate agent?
  2. Is this the first estate agent that will close following the arrival of Foxtons?
  3. Last time I checked each block had its own post code. Check the post code on the Royal Mail internet site and you should be able to find out the block name.
  4. > my concerns about cars parking on yellow zig zags outside my son's school. Go direct. Approach the next traffic warden you see and suggest there is a major revenue generation opportunity.
  5. I vaguely remember that several years ago a lady - Eileen Conn (?) - tried to impose some accountability on Southwark Council for the use of public funds for Bellenden Village. I think she was stonewalled.
  6. > Don't rain on our parade. Courtesy of public subsidies.
  7. > as Peter Kay (Alan Potter) in Phoenix Nights (Series 2) says "build it and they will come" * Stolen from "Field of Dreams" (1989).
  8. Good picture, zephyr. Yes, it really is The Spike, which is in Peckham, although it was once renamed the Camberwell Reception Centre. There's a brief description here. "Camberwell Resettlement Unit" was only its name for a brief period near its end.
  9. It's the spike! Nunhead?
  10. > The subsidy is gone so shops have to stand on their own feet. Public subsidy for the shops?
  11. > Maybe it?s someone who left school after O Levels, worked hard for years building up a local business employing local people Can't be many of these left in the new East Dulwich.
  12. Any sightings recently?
  13. 1064 unique users is a significant proportion of the SE22 adult population. Congratulations. MacRoban
  14. > ED will be affected but I can't see all the shops suddenly closing. It will be the usual flight to 'value for money' which is a self-defined term. > LL, in my view, sports many businesses that proffer exactly the type of businesses and services that people only really spend money on during the good times. I am not sure if they are likely to last. Lordship Lane today looked very busy for a Tuesday morning. I can't see any signs of a recession except the marked drop in the number of "SOLD", "SALE AGREED", and "UNDER OFFER" stickers in estate agents' windows.
  15. > Which reports are these? Where can we see them? I understand that ?32m of public money was made available for the ten-year regeneration period. A Freedom of Information request to Southwark council should reveal whether it was really ?32m and how the money was spent. There is still no clarity about whether the subsidy period has been extended beyond 2007-08-31 and whether any soft loans are now being called in.
  16. Did you try a pensioner count?
  17. Yes, but, is the East Dulwich micro economy differentiated and immune?
  18. I have yet to hear of any East Dulwich buy-to-let owners in financial difficulties.
  19. Any UBS workers in East Dulwich?
  20. Maurice has written about this again? > Bellendon, in my opinion, is a white middle class enclave propped up by subsidy. Read their reports. It's all there in black and white. The plan to ween them off funding has failed. What's going on?
  21. I thought the public subsidy for Bellenden Village regeneration ended on 2007-08-31, however Maurice has suggested it is continuing. What are the facts?
  22. ... and, I'd like to see an eating and drinking out section.
  23. This year's bonus is not to be made redundant.
  24. Sounds like it's time for Southwark Council to increase the pitch charges to bring supply and demand back into equilibrium.
  25. I hope the local on-site 100-hour pharmacy service which would benefit the elderly and infirm will not get thrown out with the witch-pond water.
