  1. Houses in East Dulwich are still selling at the same rate as this Summer?
  2. In the 1950s I would have taken my Box Brownie around the side streets of East Dulwich and taken lots of photographs.
  3. Although this was a non-starter, doing something with Northcross on "market days" only still seems a good idea.
  4. This still whiffs of a witch-hunt. In 1959 I saw a black cat in Darrell Road.
  5. I would prefer to go to the doctor's surgery and collect my prescription at the same time rather than walk the streets to find a dispensing chemist that is open. Sounds like progress to me.
  6. > The rambling, repetitive, incoherent style made it quite clear that he was mentally disordered Publishing a day's output of the EDF Lounge?
  7. So, in summary, the complaint is about opening a 100-hour pharmacy without prior consultation.
  8. > 1978 a fine year! By the end of 1978 the Bank of England interest rate was 12.5%
  9. Nice map, lozzyloz. Have you come across one for Camberwell Vestry too?
  10. Only a metaphorical fault-line.
  11. Someone else - downsouth - told me my geography was lacking, but I'm under the impression that East Dulwich remains in the same place.
  12. > East Dulwich part of Camberwell - are you quite mad? Those who don't learn from history are doomed. Yes, East Dulwich is part of Camberwell.
  13. I believe I have seen a downward extension in Elsie Road. I suspect that downward extensions near the Grove Vale depression are not a good idea.
  14. David Greig was/is a grocery chain. They occupied the Le Chardon premises. Greig's mosaic is still outside.
  15. There's some confusion here between the Peckham Rye children's play area and the Peckham Rye Park children's play area?
  16. The name change from "Constance" to "St Francis" was a long time ago. It may have been 1937.
  17. East Dulwich is part of Camberwell, but Camberwell is not East Dulwich. There ought to be a history class for incomers.
  18. David Greig's symbol was a thistle.
  19. Gentlemen do not ask a lady how old she is. Not even by an indirect question.
  20. Binesters.
  21. I've not walked the new path that runs through the St Francis Hospital grounds. The gates to the original path are still there on Dog Kennel Hill.
  22. This transaction still doesn't make financial sense. Is there an overlap between the shareholders of the two companies?
  23. Some memories there, carter39. Today I was thinking of the Dulwich Hamlet Football Club path that ran from Dog Kennel Hill to Greendale. A useful shortcut when it was open.
  24. After an unfortunate incident last week when I had to walk in the gutter I now think there should be buggy lanes marked on the Lordship Lane pavements.
  25. Yes, that's our East Dulwich workhouse mortuary table. The place where so many of our local poor elderly residents were scared of ending their days.
